Langley Minor Football Week 4

Flag

Bandits Set Records In Victory
A trio of Bandits set personal records in a 14-3 win Sunday against a South Delta Rams 2 team.

Jack Laurin had a record 10 flags on defense. U'Shaun Campbell had a personal best 2 touchdowns and Dayton Boutilier had a career high 2 converts in the Bandit victory.

Bandits opened the game with a 40yd march down the field. Ben Charbonneau had a 10 yard run that gave the Bandits the ball at the Rams 5 yard line. That set-up Campbell's 5 yd TD run to give the Bandits a 3-0 lead. When the Rams got he ball back they tied up the score with a TD drive of their own. On the very next kickoff Laurin returned in 35 yards for the TD. Boutilier made the convert to put the Bandits ahead 7-3 at half.

Campbell opened the second half of the game with a bang. He had a 30-yard kickoff returned for a touchdown to put the Bandits up 10-3. With great defense on the next Ram possession by Dylan Gemakas, Isaac Barton, Kurt McCormick and Andrew Chin the Bandits got the ball back with a turnover on downs. That gave the Bandits the ball back on their own 15-yard line. Nico Gerussi got the drive moving with big runs of 23, 7 and 13 yards. That gave the Bandits a 1st and 10 on the Rams 17-yard line. Gerussi then took it to the end zone with a 17-yard TD scamper. Boutilier made his second convert on the day to seal the 14-3 Bandit win.

Bandits had excellent blocking all day by their offensive line Austin Robbins, Kian Gilroy, Jovan Kheleh, Ashton Hawkins and Joel Paulogonas. The win gives the Bandits a 3-week win streak and improves their record to 3-1 for the season.

LANGLEY STALLIONS 16 / SOUTH DELTA RAMS 0

The Langley Stallions continued their dominant winning ways last Sunday morning by visiting the South Delta Rams and handing them a 16 – 0 shut out loss.
The Stallions started the game strong with Nathan Flint returning the opening kick off 30 yards for a touchdown. The Langley defense again led by Haiden Horan quickly shut down the South Delta offense with excellent flagging from Kevin Hollowink, Dominic Beltrame and Trent Davies who all had multiple tackles. Following key blocks from Chayce Fryer-Dolton and Caydon Beck-Boreson, Flint was easily able to blast into the end zone from 10 yards out on Langley’s first offensive drive of the day.
South Delta’s second possession was again ended quickly by the blitzing and aggressive play of Jack Wilson, Liam Bennett and Christian Simunac. Running behind textbook blocks from Ethan Levesque and Tyson Van Eyk, Flint was able to scamper 27 yards for his third touchdown of the day. The Stallions capped off the day with a flashy 35 yard touchdown run from Haydn Stomperud who was set free with a devastating block from Connor Willdey. Special mention goes out to the play of Anthony Beltrame, who stepped in to play centre this week in place of absent Jason Vleeming.
