Hello Everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s and are just chomping at the bit to get back to the gridiron! I know the regular season is still a ways off, but there is good news…Spring Flag football just around the corner.
Teams consist of 6-8 players each, playing non-contact flag football 5-A-Side. Boys and Girls! There is a new opportunity for U 16 females this year too…we hope to see a few more girls sign up this season! Boys, get your sisters/girlfriends out there!!!
The age groups are:
U12 – born 2000 & 2001
(new division this season if interest is strong enough)
U14 – born 1998 & 1999
U16 – born 1996 & 1997
U18 – born 1994 & 1995
**Note: You must not be above that age as of Dec. 31st this year.
***Registration will be held Saturday Feb 12th at McLeod, upstairs meeting room, from Noon – 2:00 PM***
The cost of this league is $125.00 and you will get the following:
1 practice a week minimum (depends on the coach’s discretion)
5 weekends of jamboree games (dates and locations below)
And a buy into the Provincial Championship play offs in Kelowna on the weekend of June 11th and 12th.
Each team will be a designated NFL team…early registration may help you get the team of your choice…!
Game Schedule:
Saturday, April 30th Langley @ McLeod Stadium
Sunday, May 8th Surrey @ Bear Creek Park
(yet to be fully confirmed)
Sunday, May 15th New Westminster
Sunday, May 29th (still to be confirmed)
Saturday, June 4th Chilliwack @ Townsend Park
One of the most important things to think about when deciding if this is something you are interested in, is that we pay up front for our teams to make the Provincials…if we do not have enough players make the trip to Kelowna, then we are paying to forfeit and that will leave some kids without the opportunity to participate. Please check your calendars to ensure you are free this weekend. Regular season play does not count towards Provincials; it is practice for the finals.
This is the 3rd year LMF has been participating, and the last 2 have been a BLAST!!! Last season we grew from 2 teams to 5, with 2 U13 teams, 1 U15 team and 2 U18 teams. Coach Mike’s team won Provincials in the U13 Division, but the biggest success was the fun we all had! I hope more of you get out to this league this season. It’s such a great tool for coaches to work on skill positions as well…there is no blocking or tackling like regular football, it’s all pass, run, catch and have a great time!!!
ALSO, if you are interested in becoming a referee for this fun division, please contact Doug Pauls at dpauls@telus.net for further information.
See you soon!
